I wanted to share another review from DatBeardedBastard! Here is the direct link to his blog post.
I invite you to head over and check it out. One thing I can point out is that he homed in on the inspiration for the events of Cyr. Between Gladiator and the Spartacus series from a few years ago, I cannot deny they both inspired events within this book. Anyone remember Spartucus versus Theokoles?
This was the point in the series where Spartacus began fighting in the two-sword Dimachaerus style. No, I did not base Kealin off of this style but it was a rather pleasant surprise when Spartacus began slashing Romans with dual gladius'.
Contrary to what you might've read in my books, I actually LIKE Roman-esque style cultures. But all of my Roman inspired characters tend to be on the wrong team or die...
Make sure you check out that review and take a look at some of the other reviews. I think he just reviewed book two in Justin Sloan's Falls of Redemption Trilogy. You can actually get book one in his trilogy for FREE here: Land of Gods
Now I really want to watch Spartacus again... but I need to book four. Priorities first!
If interested: you can check out the Spartacus series here. I recommend it.
